What is a background distance Reiki session like?
The first thing I would say is that there’s not really a “typical” — just like everyone is different, so are their Reiki sessions.
What I can share, though, is how I typically approach an online Reiki session.
Two Types of Distance Reiki
I offer two types of distance Reiki:
Via Zoom, where the client and I interact similarly to how we might if we were in the same geographical space
Background, where the client and I do not have direct communication during the session itself
For the purposes of answering this question, I will be covering the second option: background. If you’d like to know more about how Zoom sessions are conducted, I cover that here.
After you book
After your background distance Reiki session is booked through the website, you will receive a confirmation with a calendar invite for the time and date selected. Please make sure that you answered the question, regarding intentions for the session. This will help me prepare for your session.
If you have any questions about the automated communications you receive about our session, please don’t hesitate to reach out, and I’ll see what I can do.
Preparing for the session
A little before the start time for our ambient (background) Reiki session, I suggest making yourself comfortable, whatever that means to you.
This can mean stretching out on a sofa, lying on your bed, relaxing on your patio, getting in the warm bath. Seriously, whatever cozy and relaxed means to you, do that!

During the session
At our determined time, I will begin our session. I will be acting as a conduit for the Reiki to flow into your energetic body so that it can work to your highest and greatest good.
So what does it feel like during a background distance Reiki session? Well, again, it depends on the person and the day, but the most common reported experience from my clients is that they feel incredibly relaxed and that “noise” is often gone from their minds, like a meditative state.

Ending the session
Whenever our time is over, you can continue your day as you see fit. I often suggest to both my Zoom and background Reiki clients to have some free time after the sessions so that they can “bask in the glow” if they can. There is often a nice, relaxed, almost other-worldly state that my clients enter and that they don’t want to leave too quickly, and having some time to enjoy that state is quite rewarding.
Still Have Questions?
This is a high-level overview of what a background Reiki session with me would be like.
If you have more questions that I didn’t address here, based on your specific condition or anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I’d love to see how I could be of service!
